Our Story
Slip Testing Ltd grew out of the flooring industry, not the laboratory.
Before we ever set up a pendulum, our team spent years working with floors: preparing surfaces, polishing concrete, applying coatings and treatments, and solving problems on commercial and industrial sites. That work showed us something again and again. Many slip problems weren't really about the floor itself. They came down to the wrong finish for the setting, a cleaning product leaving residue, or a surface that had simply worn smooth over time.
In 2001 we set up Slip Testing Ltd to give businesses clear, reliable answers about their floors. We test to BS EN 16165:2021, wet and dry, and report the results plainly, whatever they show.
Our background means we can do more than produce a number. When a floor falls short, we understand why, and we know the full range of ways to put it right. Often the answer is as simple as a change in cleaning regime or better entrance matting. Where a surface needs more, we have long, hands-on experience in supplying and applying anti-slip treatments to stone, ceramic, terrazzo, concrete and other surfaces, sometimes without changing how the floor looks.
Our test results always stand on their own. You're free to choose any contractor for remedial work, and we'll re-test their work with the same independence as our own.
More than two decades on, we work with businesses across the UK, from single shops to multi-site portfolios. Our aim hasn't changed: safer floors, clear evidence, and honest advice from people who know floors inside out.
